We experienced burro packing in double aught 5 and it turned out to be one of the boys' favorite programs. Don't worry about bringing a bag of carrots. Philmont supplies all the carrots you'll need. That is, unless your crew decides they really like the dried apples. Save a bag or two to entice your burros through water and over big rocks. Works like magic. Check the swap boxes, we found bags and bags of apples.
It sure didn't hurt dropping 10 pounds of out of the pack. I just wish we would have had them carry our gear up the mountains, instead of down from Miranda to Ponil.
