[philmont] columbia pants

I apologize for my opinion of the new BSA zip-offs and the question if there were any others that felt the same or if it was just me. (I guess I didn't realize I had to justify my opinion which is based on apparent quality for the price and the fit issues I have.) I'll keep my opinions regarding all the 'perfect' items brought to us by BSA National Supply to myself from now on.

One point though, *I* started the discussion on pants by asking for some suggestions on decent, non-cotton pants to hike in that were a good value for a scout that is a late addition in my crew. The discussion on Columbia products happened long before I noted that I didn't like the way the switchbacks fit and it is moot anyway because neither is really what I'm looking for in this case because I was trying to find something for this scout that wasn't going to cost him $80 to $100 (for 2 pairs of pants) to get in addition to all the other gear he is buying 11th hour due to being a late addition.

If I managed to offend anyone OTHER than Don by expressing my dissapointment in the switchback zip-offs, I apologize to you too, if I had realize that my opinion was 'unjustified' I definitely would have kept it to myself.

Kevin Mineart (apparently the ONLY one that the switchbacks don't fit to perfection.)

Uh, gee, we've only been talking about them for the last couple days.
In fact, it was disatisfaction (in my own opinion quite unjustified)
with the Switchbacks that led to the discussion of the Columbia trousers.

Maybe you should glance at the last couple days postings to see the
reactions to the switchbacks before re-starting such a fresh topic.
Regards
Don
