At a time when the scouts are being virulently attacked as too
traditional, too religious, too politically uncorrect, I think an
endorsement from Congress is very helpful.
I think you should ask why you are in scouts if you don't see how
important it is in the daily lives of thousands of boys.
There are plenty of serious issues to be obsessed with, so one can
overlook proper attention to the development of tomorrow's leaders.
They're just little kids and they'll grow up anyway, after all. And
they don't vote, either. Sorry for the sarcasm, your comment is just
way out there, in my opinion.

Efforts
Well I guess I will be in the minority on this but I just feel with all
the really serious issues facing our nation from the economy at home, to
soldiers at risk, for our Congress to spend any time and energy on this
seems absolutely wasteful. If we were flying along without such serious
issues as health care, education, soaring food and gasoline prices this
would be a fun thing to see happen. But we have men and women getting
killed daily without any exit policy that can be described to us. We
have no energy policy except we know Exxon- Mobil is making record
profits. Our seniors are looking at their food money not go far enough
as the price of such basics as bread and cereal soar and the Congress is
talking about the Boy Scout 100th Anniversary! There is just something
wrong in this picture!
