[philmont] Mounting Maps

I want to mount my Philmont maps on plywood or other suitable backing to
hang on the wall. I plan on combining the old north and central maps,
splicing them together, and tracing the two treks I've done in marker.
A long time ago I remember trying to mount a map (not a Phil-map) using
3M spray mount with terrible results.

Does anyone have any experience and ideas to share?
