Personally, if Crocs are good enough to be the camp
"shoe" of choice for hundreds of thru-hikers on the AT, they are good
enough for me - and Philmont. That being said, I own and use a pair that
do not have the holes in the toe box.

************************************************
Having known and respected Rice Brewer for a long, long time, I find that I must
take the liberty to attack him and comment here.
Crocs are appropriately named, as in "that's a crock of...". However,
if I did own a pair of them, I'd get the ones sans holes also, but I don't own a pair of them because I have found no need to own a pair of them.
Being a strong supporter of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", I'll stick to my pair of Official BSA hard sole moccasns which I've used for "camp shoes" around the BSA for some fifty-two years now. Well, maybe they aren't the original pair and a few sizes larger, but still made the same for all these years.
It's kinda like carrying kitchen matches in a metal match safe. If you wanna carry a Bic lighter, so be it, go flick your Bic, but I'll stick with the sticks which I learned to flick courtesy the BSA.
And that's the Crock of it.
