No official requirment as to what a camp shoe is and is not. - Philmont
suggests lightweight sneakers or tennis shoes, a poor choice IMHO
Not aware of any prohibited trail footwear, Philmont suggests well broken in
hiking boots, a great plan IMHO
I've been on this list for years, and on enough treks to know what I'm
talking about. Opinions are in ample supply and based on experience, but
they are just that, opinions.
My opinion
A good camp shoe will be light and comfortable. It will offer protection in
the form of a hard sole and covered toes. Tevas (without socks) have served
me well.

Subject: [philmont] Camp shoe requirements
Is there any official requirement of what can or cannot be worn as a camp
shoe? Are tevas and flip flops allowed in camp? I know they are NOT on the
trail
TIA
