I cannot post the word or words I am thinking that would describe the lead
advisor who would expose his crew to the risk of showing up a Philmont
without the required certification in first aid and Wilderness First aid.
The cost of the rent-a-ranger program the last time we had to use it was 75
a day and that has probably doubled since then. So figure 9 days at 125 a
day or about $1125 bucks added to the crew bill, this assuming that Philmont
would EVEN CONSIDER opting to send a WFA trained ranger with the crew for
the whole trek. Might be a good idea to get the training a go hang out at
registration and barter my services to the crews who happen to fall into the
situation. Hopefully I would not be needed but who knows I might get a
couple of free treks this summer...
Just thinking..
Jack

I haven't been keeping up on things here, but was wondering what the status
of the Wilderness First Aid requirement? How many folks have the
certification, and what will Philmont do if a crew get's there without the
required certification.
Just wondering,
Tom
