[philmont] Wilderness First Aid Training

I posted a message yesterday about WFA. Thanks for all the feedback! Some great ideas out there.
  When the requirement first came out (then got resinded) I took the initative and became an American Red Cross Instructor. Since then I have held several courses and certified about 30 people.
   
  As somebody said, the main objection is the cost of the course. I run the course between $105 to $125 per person and this is at a break even cost. The course includes meals (and I mean home cooked food) camping and all course materials. Compare this price to some of the established courses (NOLS, SOLO) which charge $200 to $400, not including meals or lodging, plus your travel, (not trying to discount their courses, because I think they are probably excellent courses). I think this is a bargin.
   
  I also support the statement 'BE PREPARED' and suggest to our local units, whether going to Philmont or not, to take the course and write the information on their Tour Permits.
