These are statistics, posted in 1999 by Mark Griffin, on reservations
from the call-in for the 2001 camping season.
32.6% from the Central Region
32.6% from the Southern Region
21.4% from the Western Region
13.4% from the Northeast Region
I haven't seen anything recently but my guess is the breakouts for more
recent call-ins are similar.
Philmont expects fewer particants from the Northeast Region due to
travel costs and from the Western Region since many of those councils
have their own high adventure bases.
The top councils for 2001 were Sam Houston Area, Denver Area, Circle Ten
(Dallas), National Capital Area (Bethesda/Washington D.C.), Middle
Tennessee (Nashville), and Capitol Area (Austin).
