[Philmont]: Saying Thanks, (Thanks Calvin)

I realize that this subject is completely off list, but I feel that we all
need to realize that most of (if not all of ) our Scouts are going to be
directly, or indirectly, affected by the war on terrorism.
My son is now in the U.S Air Force and is studying to be a flight
chryptologic linguist. He is a former Scout and has, on more than a few
occasions, realized that the things that he has learned as a Scout, have
served him well. As a matter of fact, when a more "seasoned" airman informed
him that when he attends survival school, he would have to eat bugs and
grubs, my son said "been there, done that". When questioned about it, he
mentioned his Scouting experiance. The replie was "Oh, Boy Scouts: the sixth
military. I'm not sure that we should consider BSA as a branch of the
military, but it has proven to be a fine learning experiance for military
personnel.
In that vein, I urge all of the fine people on this list to contribute their
support for our military personnel by adding their names to the document
mentioned by Calvin.
