Way to go Rik!!! The best units are the ones that can do what you have done. They are also the ones that seems to be the most active with a large scout population (70+ in Rik's case). If a boy comes into a troop and knows that part of his experience will be to places that will stretch his boundaries, he is going to stay in. He is also going to bring in some of his buddies. It doesn't take a lot more to plan a "do it yourself" high adventure trek. Any unit can do the packaged deals where everything is done for you.

High adventure treks do wonderful things for scouts, adults and units. What do you have on your calendar this summer? We are going to Philmont and to Iceland. I just gave a Roundtable presentation on planning a high adventure trek last night that I would be willing to share with the list.
