For Scout fundraising there is no better program than the Trail's End
popcorn sales used by BSA Councils all across the United States.
Tha Atlanta Area Council will sell over $2,000,000 worth of popcorn during
our current campaign which ended yesterday (10/31).
My second Scout son has sold a total of $11,000 over the last four years. He
earned over $4,000 which paid for his 2001 National Jamboree and 2002
Philmont trips, as well as his upcoming 2003 Northern Tier adventure.
My older son did the same thing. In fact, when he aged out of Scouts he
still had over a $1,000 in his troop Scout Account which he used for college
expenses.
We hardly work at selling it. It sells itself. My son really enjoys going
door-to-door (he can sell over $100/hour) - more so than the times we set up
with a table somewhere.
Selling Trail's End popcorn also ties in nicely with about a dozen merit
badges, not to mention how it helps build self-esteem and confidence. My
second son has disabilities and a speech problem and the popcorn sales have
helped him blossom into a well-rounded young man.
If your council is not currently involved with Trail's End popcorn you can

Good luck with funding your Philmont trip.
