[Philmont]: Going in '04

This is just a follow up to a posting I submitted earlier this week regarding making a reservation for '04. SUCCESS!!! We had 8 people calling nonstop from 10:59 EST until 11:50 EST when one caller was successful. I know some may feel that multiple callers is "taking advantage...", but I considered my motivation and had no problem with the choice. We now have the opportunity to share Gods country with 20 first time Scouts and Scouters that will finally be able to understand (and share) my moments of speechlessness (and babbleing) when I talk about the experience I had in 1999 as a member of a council contingent. I want to thank each of you who responded to my inquiry last week. Your tips were very helpful. By the way, we got 29 July 2004 as our Trek date. Hopefully I will be able to meet some of you on the trail while we are there. I will end with the biggest reason for my excitment. In 1999, although I was able to take 5 Scouts from my troop with me, my youngest twin sons, Eagle Class of 1997, were not able to go with me. On our 2004 trek, not only will they be there as advisors but my oldest grandson will also be there as a Star Scout. Hopefully I am but one of a few that is striving to keep the Philmont Phlame burning in the hearts of our youth.
Thanks for allowing me to carry on. There are very few places that I know of that I can share these thoughts with others that know where I am coming from (or going to - as the case my be).
By the way, the one caller that got through was one of my Eagle candidates that was able to go to Philmont this past summer with a council contingent. I thought that that was poetic justice.
