Also not to start the "plastic bag cooking" method debate again. I
have used this method for three treks in 98, 00 and 02. And
promoted this concept on the listserve. The method is great for
reducing water use, reducing food waste and preparing food. Using
this method you will not have undercooked food or burned food to
the bottom of the pot. This method also gives you hot water to
wash dishes with after your meal. I have found this method helpful
in drastically reducing food particles at the sump in your campsite.
If you are interested in more information email me off the list and I
will be more than glad to discuss this concept that basically uses
the double boiler cooking method. If you decide to use this method
it should be a method that you practice before arriving at Philmont
as any other backpacking technique. I take food preparation
seriously since it is my profession and contend that meal periods
on the trail is when crews bond together.
Sidenote to all those Auburn fans on the listserve: How about them
Dawgs!!!
