Larry,

Here is a group that specializes in lightweight and ultra light backpacking.
There are a lot of scout leaders here as well. If you post your question
there I'm sure that you'll get plenty of assistance. I found this group
about 6mo. before our trek last year and gleaned a ton of useful
information.

would need about 4500 cu. in. and carry about 35-40 pounds.

I am more than willing to leave my 6 pounder at home. Thirty-five pounds
