IMO, the smaller your are, the more important to consider weight
restrictions. I think Philmont agrees. I've not seen them ASSIGN
someone your size and weight a limit, but I have had a boy on each
of my Treks who was smaller than you assigned one. It's tough to
get a 100lb boy in the zone because they have so much overhead (pack
weight, nalgene, sleeping pad, cook gear) that will not downsize.
As a Crew Advisor, I would make sure that you did not carry too much
crew gear. From your attitude, and my experience, I'm sure that
after a week I would have to check again to make sure that you were
not "pitching-in too" and carrying more than the 180 lbs boys:-)

-"Strictly enforce 20% for smaller boys. Limits the 100 and below
boys participation to the very special. Once the boys approach 150
lbs, I pay much less attention. So does Philmont."-

I went to Philmont last summer. I was 125 LB and six feet tall. I
carried a 40 LB pack and had no trouble with it. I was clearly over
the weight limit pack-wise and under the weight limit size-wise, but
was only slightly sore for the first two days. I did not pack
uneccessary things and was concientious about what I took. All
those things just add up to heavy packs. I would not have been able
to get my pack down to 25 LB without leaving many things that I
needed behind or buying all new state-of-the-art equipment.
