Packs are one of the top 3 items of importance that you control. When it
comes to fit, backpacks are like shoes. Fit is what feels comfortable.
Comfort is subjective. What's comfortable to one may not be comfortable to
another. Some have a wide range of comfort, some don't. The risk is that
you'll be on the trail for 11 days with an uncomfortable, possibly painful
pack.

If you can determine exactly what manufacturer, model and size is being used
and try it out locally in advance then renting a pack has merit. Or if
you're strapped for cash and are willing to 'grin and bear it'. Otherwise,
best to have one when you arrive.
