Water Purification,

2003 - 804H

You may safely leave the water filters home.

Two reasons;

1. You'll be given Polar Pure, which does not "flavor" the water to any
substantial degree and;

2. Almost every camp had purified (chlorine) water available - or had a camp
within a reasonable transit distance that had purified water available.
You'll have to check your own itinerary though. We traveled on Trek 21.

We even stayed at an unstaffed back-country camp (Upper Dean Cow trail camp)
that had a solar pump and chlorine purification.

Our groups did purchase and use MSR and Sweetwater filters for all training
hikes, all but one was left at base camp at the suggestion of the Ranger.
The one adult that did bring a pump was very well-prepared and had his carry
weight well within guidelines, so he allowed himself that luxury.
