Looking for suggestions on pack size for Philmont. I have one boy who is
about 4' 11'"and about 80 pounds. I don't have any worries about his ability to
make the trek. I am, however concerned about the size of internal frame pack.
I don't want him carrying a 5000 cu. in. pack at his size, due to balance,
not to mention a pack that size when full, will well exceed the 20- 25% pack
weight for his size. On the other hand, I want it to be large enough to carry
his gear and his fair share of the group gear. I found a Kelty 3675 internal
frame pack, which is sized to fit a woman or youth of his size. Any
experienced trekkers have any comments or suggetions?
