One Philmont Trek timing consideration for youth challenged in
stature is "why now?"
For some, tipping the scales at less than 100 lbs, now is the time.
For others, (13-14 year olds) it's probably not.
Why put a boy in a position where he has to be at his peak every
single day to HAVE FUN?
Yes, Philmont is once in a lifetime, but it's not one chance in a
lifetime, especially if you consider Rayado, ROCS, Ranch Hands, and
OA Trail Crew.
Just food for thought.
Take each case as they come and do your best.
