Question: Trek Help
Next summer (06) I am taking a contingent with 2 crews (24 youth and adults)
to Philmont. We have discussed which features wed like to include in our
program and the agreement is that wed like fishing and wed like to hike
out over the tooth on the last day. Looking at my trek book from 04 it
appears that Treks 11, 12, 13, and 14 would fit our needs. I have only hike
in the North and Central parts of Philmont so I have several questions, and
here they are:
Answer:
Regarding your questions, I can only be of help to Question #4regarding two
crews from the same troop. The short answer is yes, both crews must fill
out their trek request form (usually sent out by Philmont in Feb or March)
of their top 5 trek choices, exactly the same, and send them in together,
ASAP, in order to increase the chances of getting your first or second
choice.
If you choose to do so, there are several issues which are helpful to
discuss AND plan for with the adults and scouts when 2 crews from the same
troop are taking the same trek. For more information you can contact Jon
Mather at jmather@chartertn.net
