Just my opinion because I don't have information one way or the other,
but I don't think I would brand a gore-tex lined boot even on the
leather part. It seems to me that the heat could easily damage the
gore-tex membrane. On my last crew, I carried a 6" leather arrowhead
that I purchased at our Scout shop and branded it. Then I had the whole
crew sign the back; and after I got back I used a soldering iron to
"brand" the trek number and year. Nice souvenir - at least I think so.
