Philmont was my best BSA training for how to be an adult advisor. In
our troop we have dropped the term "leader" in reference to adults.
Adults are and should be advisors. This is not an easy thing for adults
to learn.
This list and the Philmont Advisor's Guide are great resources on how to
be an adult advisor in scouting.
To quote (or misquote maybe) someone famous on this list "We are in this
for the youth, let them lead!"
Even BSA National calls Scoutmasters and Committee Members "leaders".
They talk about leader training. This terminology should be replaced
with advisor in the Boy Scout program.
