Kelty makes a synthetic bag, the Light Year 3D 250. It sells for $79.99 at Campmor.

Returning to the subject of how to best keep a down bag dry if down is chosen over synthetic (or how to keep a synthetic bag dry), I noticed some of my youth, Philmont veterans, lugging huge rolls of open celled foam on our recent November AT backpack. We had perfect weather, so wetness was not an issue. However, it seems to me that these huge rolls, in addition to their bulk, would be difficult to waterproof (I have visions of tears in the covering plastic garbage bags, if the youth had the foresight to bring the same) and would soak up water like a sponge when wet, setting up a scenario for transfer of that water to the sleeping bag and tent interior. Perhaps the youth should be counseled to procure a closed cell product or Thermarest (which I use).

  All for now.
