RE: [Philmont]: Sling Lite chair at a great price!

As with a lot of things, it's personal preference. I tried the crazy
creek type chairs and just did not like them. I did not like setting on
the ground, especially in wet conditions. I did like being able to use
it as an addition to my sleeping pad. I switched to a 3 leg stool. Off
the ground. A great place to sit to change shoes or stir a pot of
noodles. Light (14 oz.) and easy to pack. But no back to lean on.
Then I learned of the sling light from this list. Took a long time
before I decided to part with that much money. A great chair to relax
in, read a book, etc. Downside is that it is a little harder to attach
to your pack, although I eventually worked out a good method. This past
summer, I would use a crew members stool when it way my time to cook and
let them use my sling light while I was cooking. Best of both worlds
for me. Each type of seat has its advantages and disadvantages. Now,
if I am going where I will have some downtime to relax, I take the sling
light. If I am doing a lot of hiking relative to the time I do not
carry any type of chair to keep my pack weight down. I would carry the
sling light to Philmont again.

How does this compare to the use of a Crazy Creek. I have used my Crazy
Creek (long version) for 5 years and love it. Great camp chair, extra
pad as I carry a 3/4 thermo-rest (weight and size) on the very cold
nights. I also use it as a door mat in the vestibule of my tent at
times. I can see the joy of off the ground in this chair but is it worth
the lack of versatility?
