It is with a great deal of pleasure that I announce that the 2006 version of
the Philmont Advisor's Guide is now available. This document began after two
advisors returned home after their first trek at Philmont and said "I wish I
had known that BEFORE I went to Philmont". It has been updated as Philmont's
backcountry protocols have changed and is now 115 pages long. It is filled
with common sense advice from experienced Philmont advisors and Philmont
rangers. It now serves as the basis for several council's Philmont training
programs.
It is available as a MS Word email attachment for a $10 donation to
Venturing Crew 1519. It serves as the crew's primary fundraiser and has supported
treks to Maine, Canada, Philmont and Iceland. Let me know if you would like a
copy.
Cooper Wright
Associate Advisor, Crew 1519
Co-editor of the Philmont Advisor's Guide
