[philmont] Black Peak

In 2002, our crew was rerouted due to a small fire from a lighting strike that forced the evacuation from the Hunting Lodge and Clark's Fork area. The was our second to the last day with our trek having us going over Tooth Ridge from Clark's Fork. Logistics bused us from the turnaround to the other side of the Tooth Ridge and drop us off close to the Stock Ridge trail to get us up to the Tooth Ridge. In all my treks this was the steepest trail and most over grown trail I have seen on the ranch. We were later told
that the trail had not been used in years.

On my first trek, our last day was Urraca to Base Camp. Looking at the map we saw a shortcut. It went exactly where we wanted to go. Yes, it looked hard, but how hard could it really be???? It was called Stockade Trail. We were on hands and knees. (Wished we had a belayer.) Had to take our packs off to cross downed trees. No doubt, the hardest trail I've ever done at Philmont.
