Wow. My choice would be Autumn Adventure, as long as you're both up to taking a few hikes, although I've never done PTC. I'd have to say that there are other ways to have the training experience, regardless of where you are geographically, but only one way to have the hiking experience.
Maybe I'm full of myself and think there's not an awful lot they could teach this old Scout that I can't get through other media. There's nothing like backpacking on the Ranch and having it all to yourself in September, however.
I do know that you can't experience the Ranch by nibbling about the edges, parking your car and taking a walk. You've got to get into the backcountry.
When you go AA with all adults, it's great. You travel at an adult pace, not trying to keep up with 15 and 16 year olds. Terrific way to recharge your Scouting batteries. And, now that I think of it, there's no reason not to make part of an AA trek into cross training. You just train each other as you go, especially if you're a crew made up from various councils, assembled courtesy of this list. Mix and match and share and share alike. All but one of my AA trips have been from mixed councils, New Jersey and Oregon and New Jersey, Texas and Illinois.
Again, I've never been to PTC, but I have been to various District and Council and Woodbadge Training days. Nice, but......... do an AA trek.
