If my opinions differ from anyone else's that is the purpose of the
list. Feel free to skip the $100 consulting payment for my message. If
you do want to send the money then let me know and I will get you my
address.
I have never been to a PTC Class. I assume they are great classroom
training environments that are very educational and a lot of fun.
That said PTC happens around PTC and the HQ Area.
One of the most disappointing times in my life was the morning I pulled
into HQ the first time. I had waited all my life to get to Philmont and
the place looked about the same as any open boring field in the world.
Only a person From Texas could be excited about that environment.
Even the Tooth does not look very impressive from the PTC angle. I
really thought it was a short day-hike.
I was quickly assured that the staff did hide the good stuff on the
other side of the mountain and that I would not be disappointed. they
were correct.
My wife does not like camping, backpacking and such nonsense. She does
like to be around other Scouters. She would love PTC. I would spend my
week staring at the mountains and trying to plan an escape. Just don't
see me doing that.
The one exception may be woodbadge. I hear they do some special things
with the woodbadge program at Philmont. Things that do not take place
in a classroom.
Looking to hear from others on this interesting question. I am big
time in the AA camp.
