[Philmont] Autumn Adventure versus Philmont Training Center

If you and your wife are interested for the most part in being able to do
some back packing, go with the Autumn Adventure.

With the possible exception of perhaps a couple of the courses at PTC,
there is no back packing involved in the training courses at PTC.

You have one free day where you could do some hikeing, but Philmont does
not want the Training Center folks wandering around out in the back country
where they might not know where you are at. Your wife can take several day
hikes during the week while you are in class under the leadership of one of
the PTC staffers.
