the people attending the Training Center do not have to have the regular
Philmont Medical Check like those going on treks or the Autumn Adventure
treks with the weight and blood presure requirements.
In years past, I think that Philmont would allow those attending the
Training Center to climb the Tooth of Time, but after some bad experiences
of having to go up and carry people back down they do not now want the PTC
people doing that.
However, they have reserved the Uracca Trail for those attending the PTC.
This is about 4 miles with a pretty good climb, but not a real difficult
trail. Also, they can get to about a mile of most of it with a jeep if
necessary to bring someone down.
Also, the PTC Staff will lead hikes to Abreu, Lovers Leap, and Indian
Writings during the week for those people not in a class. The hike to
Indian Writings is about 8 miles.
