[Philmont] Autumn Adventure versus Philmont Training Center

I took HATP at the PTC this year. That course includes a 3 day backpacking trip. We were busy from 7:30 AM to 9:00 PM every day. That may or may not work out so well if your wife expects some attention. :-)

As Bob mentions, a number of PTC courses during Week 12 (in September) are conducted in the backcountry. Those courses require a "Philmont Class A" medical form according to the website. While I am not familar with that term, the course description for Climbing and Rappelling implies it is the regular Philmont form. If not, it still is more than the usual PTC medical requiement.

As you would expect, while in the backcountry, those PTC courses are either based at one camp, or the backpacking is limited compared to Autumn Adventure. But they do get you out of Base Camp and the PTC.
