Don't know the exact answer but am feeling like a bit of fun and the
answer is relevant.
Last two years our guides have had no problems with letting us go
off-ranch. Off-Ranch has meant Dinner at the St. James the night before
the Tooth climb and a warm shower after rain and snow at Beaubien in
2006 and a nice burger and shake lunch in Cimmaron between Poniel and
Miranda in 2007. We paid for the guides meals and maybe that helped<grin>.
There really are very few restrictions on what you can and cannot do on
an AA trip.
As a rebel without a clue I asked our guide about places we could NOT go
on a trek. She thought a bit and responded that we were banned from
going to "Touch me not" and a couple of other places that were true
safety hazards. Since we were at the top of baldy at the time and the
available peaks we have not climbed were still plentiful I accepted her
answer and we headed on our way.
