Andrew writes...
We have received word that our troop has received a trek for 2009. If we have a
Scout who turns 18 in February 2008. If he stays registered will he be
considered an adult or youth?
And Fred responds...
Oh no! not the youth/adult, can of worms! Depends. If he is registered as a
Boy Scout, at 18 he is an adult. If he is Registered as a Venture Scout he
is a youth until 21.Pick your poison on whether you need the extra adult or
want him as a youth to take another Dad stay tuned, you will get lots of comments on this!
To which I'll add...
For most crews, it does not make a difference - the crew makeup restriction is not on the number of adults, but on adults 21 and over (no more than 4). Where it might make a difference is small crews or ones with a lot of crew members 18-20. Another requirement is "majority youth."
