That would be a much bigger problem to me than the youth absences.
Youth members generally have an easier time adapting than the adults.

Which is a good reason to have a written agreement that obligates you to
1) a certain level of pre-trek participation and 2) meeting the
financial obligations even if you decide to bail out before Philmont.
It is best if this is prepared before the crew is created so everyone
knows what is expected of them.
