I use the Frogg Toggs rainsuit as well as the other advisor I went with last
summer. They are dry, very, very light and fairly durable. They breathe
well, although there aren't many fabrics that breathe well when your hiking
uphill with a pack on. They are a ghood extra layer and wind shell on the
cold mornings.
Oh yeah, they are pretty ugly. Keeps the bears away. <VBG>

Subject: [Philmont]: Re: Philmont Message Board (GENERAL): rain gear
I got a Frogg Toggs suit last spring, specifically purchased for Philmont
based on recommendations from others on this list/message board. Suits are
made of a paper-like fabric much like tyvek, stiff at first, but softer
after getting wet a few times. They repel water very well - we got caught
in a torrential downpour at Head of Dean and I stayed dry the entire time. I
can't comment on their breathability - fortunately we never had to hike in
the rain.
Downsides - they are way UGLY and cut very large. I'm 5'11", weigh 155, and
my medium suit engulfs me. My kids say I look like the Michelin tireman
when I wear it. My son said "no way" so I had to get Marmot PreCip for him
(good stuff - much more expensive).

Anyone ever used the rain suits manufactured by Frogg Toggs? The company
claims a suit weighs between 13 and 17 ounces and breathes well.
