Absolutely agree. We have negotiated terrific deals on food, roadside repairs,
volunteered assistance when needed, etc., purely because of the uniform. With
the boys being identifiable as scouts, they tend to comport themselves as
scouts should, and not as a bunch of energy-filled, impulsive pre- and
young-teens (which they also are, first and foremost).
We require our scouts to be in their class A shirts, buttoned and tucked in,
whenever thay are outside of the travel vehicle while on the road. We do allow
them to wear presentable jeans or shorts though, instead of requiring class A
pants/shorts. This has worked well for our troop.
