On 716-D (itinerary 11) we saw bears at Apache Springs (both nights) and at
Wild Horse. Not counting the 3-D Archery target that someone saw just off
the trail on the side hike for sunset at Apache Springs <g>! So, we saw a
bear 3 out of 10 days on the trail. YIS. Mike ('76, '02 & '04).

That's interesting. On 610-D, Trek 31 we saw four bears. Perhaps because
we were early in the season? Three were seen in the area between Harlan
and
Vista Grande. An awful lot of tracks announced their presence. The fourth
was spotted crossing the trail up the south side of Baldy.
