We had our first Philmont '05 crew meeting yesterday afternoon and it ended
up being three hours long! Had a very respected Scoutmaster from our area
and an Eagle Scout from his Troop in attendance, both of whom made Philmont
treks in 2002.
Watched the eight-minute Philmont video segment from the BSA's High
Adventure video and discussed everything from choosing treks, programs,
goals for the trek, personal and crew gear needs, food... just about
everything about which a Scout or parent could have a question. (Probably
forgot to mention something obvious.)
We had the overall Philmont map on display plus a slideshow running from our
guests' trip in 2002. As everyone left the house, I believe the boys were
excited about what lies ahead and the parents were happy with the
information shared.
Thank you to all of you who've answered my questions to date. I will likely
have many more before departure, but I wanted you to know the knowledge of
all of you was put to good use yesterday afternoon.
