RE: [Philmont]: hiking boots

I bought a pair of Vasque Sundowner GTXs for my trek this year. First thing
I did after getting them home was replace the insoles with SuperFeet.

They probably had about 50 miles on them when I arrived at basecamp. Very
comfortable, light, good ankle support, locked my heels in place, plenty of
wiggle room at my toes, and on the steepest downhills with full pack, no
crunched toes. I'm a bug guy, was ~235# at check-in. No blisters at the end
of my "strenuous" trek (caveat, I always wore duct tape on all known
blister-prone spots). They were so comfortable I would occasionally look
down to make sure I was actually wearing boots. I'm very happy with them.

That being said, what's perfect for my feet may not be appropriate for
yours. I recommend following the advice others have already provided.

YIS,

Subject: [Philmont]: hiking boots

I am looking for a little help on which hiking boots to take a look at
for philmont next year. I see that all the vasque sundowner boots are
made in china now instead of italy. I was going to take a hard look at
these and asolo 535 tps boots. Has anyone had any experience with the
new sundowners?
