Boots are your life at Philmont. Treat them accordingly. Had an adult in
2002 leave his boots under the dining fly and wear his camp shoes to his
tent. While the kids were mussing around in there, the boots got kicked to
the edge, right under the drip line. Rained overnight and turned them both
into size 10 swimming pools. Luckily, they were great boots and we had
little rain after that so they had a chance to dry out.
In 2004, it rained every day, so they would have NEVER dried out after
being that wet. Our tents didn't have vestibules, so I ALWAYS brought my
boots into the tent. If they were wet (which they usually were), I just
laid my raincoat over them. I was just reluctant to not have my boots
RIGHT BY ME at all times.... YIS. Mike ('76, '02, '04 & hopefully '07).

We will be going for the first time and have decided to use Philtents.
After we pitch the tents for the first time, I cannot imagine set up being
much of an issue. Our only concern is the lack of a vestibule. Do most
bring their shoes inside the tent or leave them covered or in a plastic bag
outside?
