I am definitively a believer in the method used by Fred. We came to
this conclusion after our first Philmont trek in '01 (got tired of
waiting for people to find their bowls at dinner time) and have used it
every year since for our high adventure trips. The bowls and two pots
we use all nest together into a nice kit.

Subject: Re: [Philmont]: Personal eating bowls?
We purchased 12 lexan bowls and 12 matching spoons and one dunk bag, and
carry our utensils and bowls as part of the crew gear. This works for
us and has several advantages. 1- the stuff is all together so it all
makes it to the cooks for nightly sterilization, 2 less likelly someone
will put somthing dirty in their pack, reudcing smellables fo rthe kids,
and 3 since all eating stuff is the same there is no fight when it is
time to serve dinner and no one is stepping over, in or around the cook
area trying to find their stuff. In additin since they are all the same
size it is easier to monitor the food intake of the picky eaters.
To each their own, but when we try this with our crews, they quickly
adopt it!
