THAT'S IT !

I forgot about all the fishing and 22's. (I don't have a recollection of
burros, perhaps they were out, or the crew leader and adult declined that
opportunity)

I've been scratching my head over this one for quite a while, wondering what
trails and camps I visited. So you all know what I is next for me to do -
get out the maps and find the camps and compare that trek with the ones I
took in 2002 and 2004.

Thanks again to all of you who contributed to the effort.

Warmest regards,

Tom Fitzpatrick

My best guess. Remember that this may not be right, because it's based on
the 1973 Treks Book, and even though changes from year-to-year were seldom
back then, they did occur.

Trek 9, Typical, 62 Miles
-------------------------
Lover's Leap - Ranger Training
Miner's Park - Lumbering Days, Earth Science, Philmont Story,
                Flapjack Breakfast
Ponderosa - Side Hike the Tooth, Trail Camp
Cimarroncito - Rock Climbing, Earth Science, International Campfire
Cimarron River - Fishing, Trail Camp
Baldy Skyline - Dry Camp
Miranda - Survival
Miranda - Side Hike Baldy Mtn., Earth Science, Gold Mining and Panning
                at Baldytown
Pueblano - Burro Packing, .22 Rifle, Nimrod Safety
Ponil - Return Burros, Western Lore (Horseback Ride), Dutch Over/Chuck
                Wagon Dinner, Campfire
[Return to Basecamp from Ponil Turnaround or Six Mile Gate]

This covers everything except Beaubien. None of the other treks that
started at Lover's Leap did Baldy. You would have gotten your spar pole
climbing (at Miners Park), rock climbing, gold mine tour (with vertical
shafts), and horseback ride (afternoon rides stayed in the valley, dry and
dusty). You would have passed by Cathedral Rock. You would have climbed
Baldy via Baldy Town, and so would have seen the 55 gallon drum lid. You
would have passed under Rt 64 using the tunnel. The Tooth would have been a
difficult side hike, that quite likely very few Crews did. You would not
have hiked into Basecamp, but rather would have been bused in from the Ponil
Turnaround or Six Mile Gate (probably the PT).

Again, I can't guarantee it, but this looks like the one....
