[philmont] Cooking Meals - Hawaiian Chicken mystery solved!

I have talked to Pat about the meals for the trail. He said they get
complaints about all of the meals. Just think, if you were cooking for
25,000 could you make them all happy? With this many people from all over
the country and their personal tastes and for the many who have never
ingested dehydrated food, it would be nasty. The only guys who really eat
good are the guys from LA, Right Uncle Cletus? I have traveled there and
everything is good there, so how could dehydrated food measure up? The guys
from GA, how could it measure up against their Bar BQ? We are on a trail in
the backcountry and if the people do not like the food, what I tell them its
a free country, don't eat it! Some one else will eat your share. There are
some sticks and twigs over there and you might find some berries too.
Philmont gives us plenty to eat. I tell the kids and sometimes the adults,
you are here at Philmont to learn how to manage yourself, your water and
your food, handle it, you are on your own! I had one kid ask me the first
trail morning what he should do with the fuel bottle I handed him in base
camp, I told him it was up to him to manage till the 27th.
They do a great job and I have no complaints.

I love the place and just wish I could live there till the day I drop on the
trail. Then they could have a BIG fire and spread my ashes on the East side
of Mt. Baldy.

Your stride may vary,
