[philmont] Why go to Philmont?

I had the same task. I told the parents that it was the experience of a lifetime. I told them that it would forever change their kids attitudes about what they could accomplish and that it was a bonding experience like no other their kids had experienced. I told them that they would be challenged beyond skills and that what they learned through the Philmont experience about working through challenges with other scouts and the environment would be a lifelong experience that they would draw on into high school, college and life beyond.. They would also join a fraternity of those who have experienced Philmont for the better part of a century. Earning the pocket patch is not easy. There is a reason why you only get one each trek upon completion.

Every single scout proved me right and every single parent has thanked me many times. Good luck.

Subject: [philmont] Why go to Philmont?

So *I Know* why I went to Philmont the first time, and why I've gone back but I'm unsure on how to explain to the parents of a group of scouts why they should go ... I'm trying to create a promotional program for our council and I'm having a problem crystalizing this point ... any suggestions would be apprectiated.
