[philmont] Autumn Adventure, Alabama Crew

Having been away from home Oct. 4-14, I'll be playing "catch up" for the
next couple of weeks. I plan to send a report on our AA trek to Selden
Ball for his web page when I get a chance to prepare one.

My wife and I arrived in Cimarron a couple of days early and spent two
nights at the Casa Del Gavilan, the bed & breakfast near the Tooth of
Time.

While sitting outside Simple Simon's Pizza at noon on Oct. 5th, I phoned
(Cingular works well in Cimarron at at Philmont's CHQ) one of our crew
members while he was at work in Austin and reminded him that I was sitting
there eating pizza and looking at Philmont while he was slaving away in an
office back in Austin. Of course he appreciated the call.

Most of the rest of our crew arrived in Cimarron at appox. 6:45 p.m. on
October 7th. We spent that night in Philmont's Health Lodge tents. The
Philmont folks drove us to Beaubien on Sunday morning and we spent that
night and Monday & Tuesday nights there. It was raining while we were
setting up tents and we had 2" of snow during the night on Monday. The
crew did hikes to Fish Camp on Monday, Trail Peak on Tuesday and Black
Mountain on Wednesday. The Philmont guys picked us up late Wednesday and
took us back to CHQ for that night. On Thursday, the crew hiked the ridge
trail up to the Tooth of Time and came down the pasture trail. We spent
Thursday night at CHQ and departed Philmont on Friday morning.
