This web site looks like what you are proposing. I'm responding
directly.

While we offer great gear, a real important part of the Scout Program
are the discounts. Scouts receive a 45% DISCOUNT. Our challenge is to
convince you that we offer good old "bang for the buck". We've added a
new page called "VALUE" to try to show you how well our gear is priced.
If you'd like the Scout price list showing the 45% Discounts and order
form, please fill in the following form and e-mail it to us.

Hope this helps, maybe specialize in a certain part of the market? Good
Luck!

Subject: [philmont] Gear
I have a friend that runs a pro-form site. A Pro-Form (professional
form)
is given to people in an industry to buy gear at a reduced rate. So if
you
are a ski patroller you get a pro-form to buy skis, bindings, etc at
reduced
rates. These discounts average 40% off retail.
He and I have been talking about doing the same thing for BSA
volunteers.
You would have to qualify by sending in (scan and email or faxing) a
copy
of your BSA membership card. The name on the membership card would have
to
match the name on the credit card. However it would then allow you to
buy
gear at reduced rates.
Youth would have to send their membership card and be verified as
active
by the unit leader.
All purchases would be by credit card through a website. No Returns.
Councils, Philmont and Canoe base contingents could get a bigger
discount
with bulk shipments and pay by check.
The gear would be high end quality equipment so the price savings
overall
might not be that much compared to a local discount store, but you would
be
getting major outdoor recreation manufactures.
If you think this would fly please let me know. It is going to
require
some work and $$ so I really would like some feedback.
