Dear Folks,
We are starting to develop our strategy for Philmont expeditions in 2009. The big topic for discussion within the troop is whether to ask for two expeditions or just one. We took one expedition this year, and even with only two adults in the group, we had to leave behind several eligible Scouts that, because of age, will probably never get to go. We have a fairly large group of Scouts that will be getting older in 2009 and we can certainly populate two groups, but we don't want to ask for two groups if that will seriously impair our chances of getting even one. Any thoughts on how risky it is to ask for two expeditions and the extent to which asking for two diminishes your chances of even getting one?
