[Philmont] Cameras and notepads. A differing opinion.

The only regret I have about my two visits to Philmont (as a crew
member in 1965 and an advisor in 1978) is that I didn't take
photographs.

These days there are superb digital cameras available which let you
see the picture you've obtained on an LCD display screen. Thus, you
can take as many pictures as you like until you get a shot that is the
one you want.

There are also excellent photo editing programs for personal computers
which allow you to do a variety of useful things, including
"stitching" together photos
to form a panorama.

It is practically impossible to find a spot at Philmont which does not
have great scenic beauty.

Take a camera. Get lots of great photographs. Put them up on a web
page somewhere. And send the best along to Jim Thompson who is doing
a tremendous job with the Philsearch project at www.philsearch.org.
