I second that!
John showed us photos from his 1959 trek. Back then, John was a mere
sliver of his current self. I don't know if he could cook then but he
sure can do that now.
BTW, our guy who went to Philmont in 1957 as a 14 year old but took no
photos could still wear his Philmont belt from '57 when he went on a trek
with his son and our troop in 1989. He can't do that now but he still has
an amazing ability to find his way in the woods without a compass.
Provide him with a map and he can find his way to any camp at Philmont.
Spending a lot of time skiing and hunting in Colorado has honed that skill
but a whole lot of it comes naturally too.
